Give trim and doors a clear place in the plan
List baseboards, window trim, door frames and doors separately from walls. Tell us which finishes will change and which should stay. If doors need both sides painted, identify that in the request along with any hardware work you expect.
Detailed areas may have wear, buildup or an existing finish that affects preparation. Close photos of corners, edges and damaged spots help explain the work. Ask how the proposal handles cleaning, surface preparation and any repairs.
Explain access before the project is priced
Stair areas, high walls and exterior details may require a different access plan from a standard room. Include those areas in your photos and note anything that limits entry or space around the work area.
For exterior projects, identify the surfaces on each side of the property. Discuss protection for nearby landscaping and items that need to be moved. Weather and product requirements affect exterior scheduling, so the plan should allow for suitable conditions.
Keep the project practical for your household
Tell us which rooms or entry routes need to stay available. Explain whether the home will be occupied and how pets, furniture or stored items may affect access. Agree on these responsibilities before the start date.
- List walls, ceilings, trim and doors separately.
- Mark surfaces that should remain unchanged.
- Describe damage and hard-to-reach areas.
- Confirm colors, sheen and included preparation.
