Know who is responsible for your project
The name on a service page does not replace a written proposal. Your project documents should identify the contracting business and explain the scope, price and schedule. Ask questions before accepting if a different provider is named during follow-up.
Any relevant qualifications, insurance information or other project documents should be confirmed with the business responsible for the work. Do not assume that information about another company applies to a provider you are considering.
If an outside-provider referral is proposed
Any proposed referral to an outside provider, and any material compensation connected to that referral, should be disclosed before your lead details are shared. That disclosure should make clear who would receive your information and why.
This page does not state that a referral arrangement or lead-selling program is currently in use. If you have questions about who will handle an inquiry or perform the work, ask for clarification before agreeing to proceed.
