Review connected spaces as a whole
Look at the walls, ceiling, trim and adjoining areas before choosing the final color. A sample in one room may appear different beside a cabinet finish or under another light source. Compare the choices in the actual space before application.
List the boundaries of each area you want painted. Open-plan rooms, hallways and adjoining trim can create unclear stopping points unless they are identified in the scope. Note any existing finish you want to retain.
Treat cabinets as a distinct part of the work
If cabinets are included, provide the material if known, the door and drawer count, and photos of the existing finish. Identify cabinet interiors, exposed side panels, islands and hardware changes separately.
Cabinet preparation and return to normal use depend on the surfaces and products involved. Ask how the work will be organized and what needs to be removed before it starts. Product-specific care instructions should be part of the finish discussion.
Set a sensible work sequence
Tell us whether other improvements are happening before or after painting. Confirm access, furniture movement and the rooms that need to stay available. If exterior work is included, give it a separate surface list and discuss timing based on suitable conditions.
- Identify all rooms and specialty surfaces.
- Confirm color and sheen choices before application.
- Include repairs and preparation in the written scope.
- Discuss how completed areas will be protected and reviewed.
Request an Edina painting estimate
Send your property location, project photos, approximate size and preferred timing. The estimate process can clarify the work and any questions that need a site review. Your written proposal should identify the included surfaces, products, exclusions, price and project terms.
